Subway Art Canvas

This was a super easy project.  My first step was to find canvases at my favorite craft store (aka: Hobby Lobby).  The ones that I used originally had different prints on them.  I then painted them off-white with an interior satin paint that I had laying around.

This was my inspiration piece.

Next was to determine which quotes I wanted to use.

After I had printed my quotes out on regular printer paper. I ran them through a Zyron to make the backs sticky.  After much cutting out of the letters I began to attach them to the canvases.  I used my sewing ruler to draw the lines on to make sure everything was centered and even.  (Don't worry about the lines you won't see them under the black.)

Ready for black paint.  I used a cheap matte black spray paint from Wal-Mart to spray the canvases. I figured it would be easier to spray and not worry about the paint seeping under the letters.

Three light coats of paint and some dry time later.  It was time to start peeling the letters.  I just used my fingernails to do this.

After products.

Now they are hung in my spare bedroom.  Easy art that didn't cost much of anything.

(Sorry for the blurry pics they were taken with my phone)

Next Movie on the List of ones I want to see...

BRAVE!!! I'm such a little kid but I can't wait to see this movie.  I'm about ready for another female heroin.  One of my previous favorite Disney movies is Mulan!!!  So, I'm super excited for this one.  And how you can you not love the fiery red hair on Princess Merida!

movie junkie

While being an avid reader. I also LOVE to watch movies.  And as I am currently taking a break from "The Book List" and reading some less classical books....I am reading the Twilight Saga.  I am really enjoying it too.  I have also seen all 4 of the movies and as I am reading "Breaking Dawn" right now I am ancsiously awaiting the movie release of Part 2 on November 16th.  I'm ready for some previews to start slipping out.  So far I will say that I have enjoyed the books a lot.

And in other movies...I'm not a huge fan of the super hero movie craze.  The only super hero I really like is Batman.  I have loved Christian Bale for a long time now.  Ever since I saw him in American Psycho.

So you can bet that I am really, really looking forward to this one.

The Book List - It's back again!!!

This book list was supposed to be a project to finish before I turned 25.  Well 25 came and is quickly going.  But the list has been adjusted a few times to compensate for a few other classics that I threw into the list. So here is the list again with notes on which books I have read and a few extras at the bottom.

1.)Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury
(I read this in HS but I am thinking I will read it again)
2.)The Power of One by Bryce Courtenay
3.)To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
(I read this in HS too, loved it and will be reading it again)
4.)The Jungle by Upton Sinclair
5.)The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand
(What an interesting read this was.  I wasn't expecting to fall in love with the story line considering how much I didn't care for the sub context.)
6.)Catch-22 by Joseph Heller
7.)The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
     (What an amazing read!)
8.)The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway
(I really want to read this one again.)
9.)The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova
10.)Great Expectations by Charles Dickens
(So I read this one. It was one of the longest reads I have ever had. And then when I finished it I hopped right into...)
10.5)Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens
(This was a long read also.  Not as long as Great Expectations.  I knew what to expect when I dug into this one.  Dickens is a very very very descriptive, long winded writer.  I'm more of a get to the point kind of girl.)
11.)Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card
12.)The Quiet American by Graham Greene
13.)The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger
14.)The Stand by Stephen King
(I read the fist few chapters and had to save this for a later date. It's a bit intense.)
15.)Animal Farm by George Orwell
(I found this book to be oddly funny and extremely biased but overall a great read.)
16.)On the Road by Jack Kerouac
17.)Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palahniuk
18.)Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck
19.)The Crucible by Arthur Miller
(I also read this one in HS. Very odd story but a good one no less)
20.)Ishmael: An Adventure of the Mind and Spirit by Daniel Quinn
21.)Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe
22.)The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas
(Also another very long read but I was totally in love with it by the time I finished.)
23.)The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain
(Another that I have read. This might have been Middle School. I will be reading it again to see if I find any new enlightenment from it.)
24.)Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlossinger
25.)Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas by Hunter S. Thompson
(It's so interesting to get a glimpse of the mind on drugs.  Possibly the weirdest, hardest to follow books I have ever read.)

Additions to the list.
26.) Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
(This is the book that originally started the search for other classic novels to read.  I will forever love this story.  It's amazing what love can do.)
27.)Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
28.)Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
29.)Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte
30.)The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling
31.)Moby Dick by Herman Melville
32.)Uncle Tom's Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe
33.)Twenty Thousand Leagues under the Sea by Jules Verne
34.)A Midsummer Night's Dream by Shakespeare
35.)Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy
(I am currently reading this and so far I like it.  But as with Dickens, Tolstoy is a very long winded, very descriptive writer.)
36.)War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy
37.)The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath

I'm sure the list will continue to grow as time goes on...but for now that's the list.

Lady Friends

My friend E (far left) is getting married next June so I have become the unofficial-official wedding planner/bridesmaid/shoulder to cry on.  :)  Our good friend P (center) is also a bridesmaid.  I would say that I can't wait but I'm not sure.  Weddings can be so overwhelming for so many reasons.  I understand why most men don't want anything to do with them.  Everyone turns it into a stressful mess.  We will see how everything works out and I'll keep you updated on all the details.

Well...

It's been almost two whole years since I blogged.  I have changed my look and am trying to clean up some stuff that no longer exists.  Lets see looking back on my last posts from years ago.
> I do have a Blackberry still.  I have loved and abused the heck out of the 3 that have come into and left my life.  I'm sure there will be another in my future sometime soon!
> I did get an Escape.  An amazing vehicle.  However, after seeing the new 2013 model online I will not be getting another one.  I think it's time for a truck!!!  This girl has wanted one for a long time and I think I'm about due.
> I still have a passion for photography.  I love to take pictures.  And now with my new computer and photography software I can wait to start trying out a bunch of new stuff.  Hopefully you will be seeing a lot of it! (Wish me luck with that.)

> This picture is from my vacation to the Bahamas last year.  I would love to go back.  However, I am looking into different vacay options.
1.) Denver, CO in March to go skiing.
2.) Savanah, GA in May to spend some time way in the wonderful south.
3.) San Fransisco, CA in June with a trip to Napa for some wine tasting.
Hopefully I will pick one soon!

Well, I'm going to leave it at this for now.

i made it 2 days in a row...

...it's a miracle!!!

"sometimes it's hard to see the lines we've drawn until we've crossed them. that's when we rely on the ones we love, to pull us back and give us something to hold onto"

I found this quote the other day. And it just kind of made sense to share it with you. I find this so true in my life. And I am daily amazed by the people who truly care about me and my well being.
First off my family is down right awesome. I have been house hunting for the last month and my parents have been great. I have drug them to 7 different house. Only slightly falling in love with one of them. The others have been serious shit holes. (excuse my french) But really people you are trying to sell your house have you ever seen a vacuum or a garbage can for that matter. Anyway, back to topic. I also have a super cool bro. He may drive me nuts a lot of the time, but he is there for me no matter what.
Then I have my friends. I would not be able to live with out them. You want to talk about people who pull me back to reality. These people have their jobs cut out for them. My life is ALWAYS filled with drama. I try to steer clear but I tell you what it hunts me down and shoots me in the ass every time. My two best friends are fantastic. And they are completely opposite sides of the spectrum as far as there backgrounds and interests.
Friend one total city girl. She was my roommate in college and I love her diversity. We had so much in common it was kind of scary. And Even though we are 6 hours apart we still have an amazingly deep and devoted connection to our friendship.
Now Friend two is my favorite guy in the whole world. He has known me for so long that I hate to say. hahaha!! ANYWAY, he's amazing and we have gone threw so much together. Unlike Friend one, he is so close that I have the chance to see him once every other week if not once a week. It's so nice to have him close. I wish that she was as close and he is.

That last statement seems confusing in my head. I was thinking I could use their first initials to try and designate which friend is which. Well I can't do that either. They are both J. : )

Alright, I'm signing off. I hope you all have a GREAT day!!
I really would die without those two in my life. They really do pull me back everyday.
