Rich Man

I'm in search of a rich man to take me away to a different country. Let's try the Bahamas, or even Mexico. I can't believe this country right now. What the hell were you all thinking?!?!?!?

What is the style of your home?

I'm stealing this idea because it totally got me thinking about what I would classify my style. So far this is what I have come up with and I don't know what to name it...

I like a little of everything. However, if I bought all the things that I love my house would have this totally mashed up, mixed up, totally one big mess. I love big slouchy couches: all leather and nail heads (very ranchy).

I love modern art.

However, I love black and whites of any kind but more specifically nature b&w's.
I'm a huge fan of Ansel Adams...he rocks at life!

I can't help but being a hunting girl too who loves to have deer heads hangin' on the wall.

I am also a huge Freak!!

I love this desk from IKEA it's so functional!

I love antiques too, and I own a few cool ones. Like my awesome refinished trunk.

But for the most part I would say my house is leaning on the country side (not cutesy country though). Or maybe I should just call it rustic. I like the idea of a log home filled with big furniture and a fireplace. But I want all the antiques too. I don't have it now but maybe someday?!?!?! A girl can only hope!

So, what is your style??

swinging bridge that was a little freaky if i say so myself. i'm not a big fan of things the move under my feet while i am walking on them. however, i did make it all the way.
the first and only albino deer that i have ever seen i was very impressed by this.

and we had to walk through fat man squeeze
and cousin J
Rock City's big attraction is that you can see seven states from one point. it was very cool
looking out at where the seven states should be.

my trip was amazing i will have more pictures soon. we also went to see Ruby Falls down in the cave. it was also very cool.

rub ons on my trunk

I have to give a shout out at the beginning of this post to Uppercase Living. It's the company that makes these totally awesome rub ons that you can put on walls, glass, mirrors, almost anything flat and solid.
So, here is my Japanese maple branch it comes as a vinyl design between two sheets of paper.
To prepare it to stick to the top paper you have to rub and I mean rub hard to get them to release the backing and stick to the top paper.

After the rubbing your papers need to be peeled apart and then place the design on your surface and rub til you get it off the paper and on to what ever you're applying it to. In my case the surface was my refinished trunk.

Final product looks something like this. I wish that this on would have come bigger. I wanted it to cover the front and wrap the side and lid.

I did get it to wrap the side a little bit as you can see in the corner shot.

I have a frame with a tree that I am going to do next I'll show you the finished product soon.

my re-finished trunk

This is the cool trunk I got for $30 at a resale shop. It was this horrible brown color. the little bit of brown that is left on the brackets was the brown color that the whole trunk was.
i stripped the brackets, corners, hinges, and handles. then painted the trunk cream.
when i was done with the cream it looked too cream, so i used some stain to give it patina.
and here is the finished product in my house. it's about four feet wide and two feet deep. I am using it for blanket storage right now.

Why do relationships have to be so complicated?

Well, I'm a huge fan of Sex and the City; so I am taking on a Carrie Bradshaw-esk way of blogging today.

I have been semi-single for the last 11 months. I was in a 2.5 year relationship that involved engagement, living together, and a lot of love at one point (very much like Carrie and Aiden). However, things didn't seem to work out. We called off our engagement and then later parted ways. He was my first real love and the break up was devastating. I didn't know that I could feel so low even if I knew deep down that it was the right thing to do. I was in a really bad place and I really felt like I had nothing to live for. Things slowly got better and I found that my friendships were more important and that my friends (and family) were really there for me to lean on them. After what seems to be a year long recovery period (almost half the time I dated him to get over him~Charlotte York). I can say that I can finally start to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Two weeks ago I met a new guy whom I really find to be quite amazing. Not wanting to rush things I have tried to keep my past in the past. I have found that he however is very curious about my past. I don't want to divulge to much but I want him to understand the pain I went through. And to know that if he isn't that interested in me or doesn't want a lasting relationship that I don't want to waste my time. I feel that I am being to forward about this fact and I haven't told him this. I think that it is way to early to have this discussion however, we have already had the sex talk and I'm not ready for that either. I want to take my time in getting to know someone. I want to be in a place were I'm very comfortable with a man before I jump in the sack with him. I want the sex to be meaningful not just (excuse my french) f**king.

I have found that it is almost as though I am asking for too much from some men that it is just uncalled for. I don't see how this is possible. So my question still remains...why do relationships have to be so complicated?

one of those crap days

I always hate when I get upset at a parent. It has been one of those weeks where I have felt that my mother is being a nagging person. Don't take it the wrong way. I LOVE my parents and my mom has been a great one, but there are just those times when you just get fed up. I feel the strain of them wanting me to do there and be this and the pressure has just taken a toll.
And then I feel like I am being a bad child for thinking and saying this. I know that they are just looking out for me and what me to be bigger and better and do great things. But I'm tired and I flat out just don't care sometimes. I want to live up to the standards but when I don't I feel like I have let them down and that I'm just not good enough. And it's not like they are asking that much of me either. It's the small stuff that gets to me.
So, if you feel this way. Please feel free to tell me all about it. Or if you think I'm just flat out, out of line.

spillway pictures at the lake

WARNING....MASSIVE POST AHEAD
This post is filled with pictures of the water...raging water...rip roaring raging water that has cut our pour little state to pieces. This is the spillway/dam at the lake. I have never in my life seen this much water pour over it. look at the water line on the wall of the above picture.

These stairs used to be full they have been washed out. You can see that the water is still all the way up to the stairs. Normally the water is about 8 feet from the stairs.
Looking back at the dam from the stairs you can't see it because there is too much mist coming off the pouring raging waters.
Back at the dam from the bottom of the washed out stairs.
The walking path that leads to the cement culverts that go over the creek. This path was obviously a raging river just days ago.
The cement culvert walkway to cross the creek is no longer visible. With red tape accross it to block anyone from trying to cross.
More misty spillway shots.
From the top of the dam looking over the ledge. It looks like the Colorado River right now...EEK!!
So, much water.

And look how peaceful (kind of) it look just down stream a little ways.

Now, we are off to the rock quarry and the creek that flows from it...

this is the driveway to get back to the digging and crushing machines. I don't think they will be going back there for a few days.
The pits are usually full but this water that is closest to the road is not part of the pit.
and the creek that is traveling away from the pits are regularly 10 feet to 12 feet wide.
This is what they look like right now.

Please God, Please, no more rain!!!!

P.S. It's forecast to rain today...and guess what...it is!
